The hot springs and an easy day in town

The hotel's name comes from the nearby Nakama Thermal Hot Springs, not from thermal pools inside the property. The visitor area is roughly 140 metres away. The town upgraded the site in 2022 with paths, signs, stonework and open-sided shelters, making it easy to visit during a walk through central Savusavu.

These springs are part of everyday local life as well as Savusavu's geology. Hot water and steam rise close to the shoreline, and local families have traditionally used the heat to cook foods such as dalo and fish. The water at the main springs can emerge close to 100°C, so this is a place to observe from the marked visitor area, not somewhere to bathe.

From the springs, a simple town morning can continue to the Savusavu Municipal Market for fruit, vegetables and local produce, then towards the marina and waterfront. Published market hours are 8:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday to Friday and 7:00 am to 4:00 pm Saturday.
