A long-running Suva restaurant

Ashiyana has been part of Suva's restaurant scene since 1988. In 2019, it expanded into a larger space in the Old Town Hall, giving the restaurant a location with a distinctly Suva character. The long balcony, decorative ironwork and large street-facing sign also make it easier to find than its address alone might suggest.

The central location is one of its strongest practical advantages. It works for lunch between city stops or for dinner after a walk along Victoria Parade, without requiring a separate trip to a resort or an outer suburb.

Ashiyana's menu posts show a broad, familiar Indian selection. Butter chicken, palak paneer, dal makhani, tandoori chicken, chicken biryani, samosa, vegetable pakoda and naan have all appeared. Buffet and blackboard selections have also changed from time to time, which gives regular diners more variety but means a particular dish may not be served at every sitting.

Vegetarians have more than a token side dish to choose from: paneer, lentil and vegetable options all appear in the published selection. A May 2026 update from Ashiyana listed a normal service day as 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm for lunch and 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm for dinner. That gap matters if you tend to eat late: arriving at 3:00 or 4:00 pm may leave you waiting for dinner service.

Ashiyana makes the most sense for travellers who want a relaxed Indian meal in the city centre, particularly groups choosing between meat and vegetarian dishes. Its split service is less convenient for a late afternoon meal, and travellers working to a strict budget should request the latest prices first. The location, however, is straightforward to combine with Suva's central sights and adds a little local history to an otherwise simple lunch or dinner stop.
