OUTRIGGER Fiji Beach Resort is a large, full-service resort in Korotogo on Fiji’s Coral Coast, close to Sigatoka. Its strongest features are the wide choice of rooms and traditional bures, two different pool areas, extensive children’s programmes, several restaurants and a hilltop spa. It is particularly well suited to families and multigenerational groups. Couples can still find quieter spaces, but this is not a small or secluded boutique retreat.

Location and the way the resort is arranged

The resort is on Sydney Drive, off Queens Highway in Korotogo. It sits near Sigatoka but outside the town centre, so it feels like a self-contained holiday complex rather than a city hotel. OUTRIGGER estimates the drive from Nadi International Airport at around 1 hour 10 minutes. Traffic, road conditions and intermediate stops can make the journey longer. Private transfers, taxis and coaches are available; the resort does not advertise a regular complimentary airport shuttle.

The property covers about 40 acres and is built across several levels. The reception and main building sit higher up, while the pools, restaurants, guest wings and bures spread through tropical gardens toward the lagoon. This gives the resort more character than a single hotel block, but it also means some walks are longer than they first appear. Rooms and bures: which category makes sense?

At the time of this review, OUTRIGGER’s accommodation pages listed ten room, suite and bure categories. The basic split is simple: hotel rooms are in the main accommodation wings, while the thatched bures provide a more recognisably Fijian setting and private outdoor space. The better choice depends less on the category name and more on whether you need a separate bedroom, a quieter position, a private pool or direct proximity to the lagoon.

Room sizes and maximum occupancy figures are those published by OUTRIGGER and were reviewed in July 2026. Bed configurations, child-age limits, connecting-room availability and bookable categories can vary by rate and travel dates.

The standard rooms are already spacious by ordinary hotel standards. For two adults and one or two children, paying more for a bure is mostly about location and atmosphere. For a stay of several nights, the One Bedroom Suite can be more useful than an open-plan bure because adults have somewhere to sit after the children go to sleep.

Families booking sofa beds, twin bures or connecting rooms should confirm the exact bedding before paying. The stated maximum occupancy does not always tell you whether the layout will be comfortable for older children or several adults.

What Talai Butler Service actually adds

OUTRIGGER currently advertises Talai service for Ocean View rooms, suites and bures. The published inclusions cover welcome touches, afternoon champagne and canapés, help with restaurant reservations and activities, and assistance with unpacking or ironing. Talai hosts are available daily, but the service should not be understood as a dedicated private butler remaining with one room throughout the day.

It is a pleasant benefit, especially for a longer stay, but it should not be the only reason to upgrade. The room layout and location will affect the holiday more than the service label. OUTRIGGER currently lists extra suite-and-bure benefits, including high tea once per stay for qualifying bookings, but minimum-stay rules and other conditions apply. Beach and lagoon: beachfront, but strongly affected by the tide

The resort faces a genuine Coral Coast lagoon, but travelers should not picture deep swimming water directly in front of the beach throughout the day. At low tide, the lagoon becomes shallow and the exposed reef area is more noticeable. Swimming, kayaking and snorkelling are generally more appealing when the tide is higher.

Complimentary beach activities currently include kayaks, paddleboards and snorkelling equipment. Conditions still depend on the tide and weather, so check the daily activity board before planning the day. Reef shoes can be useful, and swimmers should avoid standing on or touching coral.

Family pool, Splash Zone and adults-only pool

There are two main pool areas with very different purposes. The family pool is large, surrounded by tropical landscaping and includes whirlpool areas and the newer three-loop water slide. This is the social centre of the resort during the day and works particularly well for children who are less interested in waiting for the tide.

The separate adults-only pool has a swim-up bar and a quieter atmosphere. Vahavu Bistro serves breakfast and lunch around this area, making it possible for couples or parents taking a break from the family zone to spend several hours there without returning to the main pool.

The supervised Coral Kids Club separates children into Little Riggers for ages 3 to 7 and Beach Riggers for ages 8 to 12. The resort currently lists eight dining and drinking venues, plus 24-hour in-room dining. This makes a car unnecessary for most meals, although eating almost entirely inside a large resort can raise the total cost of a stay. Meal plans are available, so compare the price with your likely restaurant use rather than automatically choosing room-only or breakfast-only.

Bebe Spa and quieter time for couples

Bebe Spa sits above the main resort on Vakalomalagi Hill. Its eight treatment rooms have private open-air balconies overlooking the Coral Coast. The elevated setting is a large part of the experience, but it also places the spa away from the beach and pool areas. Allow extra time to reach an appointment and ask whether a buggy transfer is needed.

Couples can combine the spa, adults-only pool, Ivi Restaurant and hilltop Kalo Kalo Bar to create a quieter stay. Even so, the wider property remains family-focused. Honeymooners wanting privacy across the entire resort, rather than only in selected areas, may prefer a smaller adults-only property.

Activities, culture and facilities

The resort provides enough activity for guests who do not want to leave the property every day. Current options include complimentary beach equipment, a 24-hour fitness centre, cultural demonstrations and the separate OUTRIGGER Adventure Park, where activities such as archery, paintball and golf practice may carry an additional charge.

Cultural programming can include kava ceremonies, meke performances, firewalking, weaving and storytelling. These experiences add more substance than a generic evening show, but individual events do not necessarily operate every day. Check the weekly programme after arrival rather than booking the stay around one specific performance.

In February 2026, Green Key announced that OUTRIGGER Fiji Beach Resort had achieved certification following a comprehensive auditing and documentation process. Green Key also reported that a dedicated environmental officer oversees legislative compliance and supports operational improvements at the property. OUTRIGGER separately promotes coral-planting activities through its OUTRIGGER Zone programme.

The certification provides stronger evidence than an unsupported eco-friendly label, but it does not turn the property into a small, low-impact ecolodge. This remains a large full-service resort with pools, restaurants and substantial infrastructure. The most accurate description is a mainstream resort with independently assessed environmental practices, not a minimal-impact retreat.

What to do nearby

Kula WILD Adventure Park is very close to the resort and is the easiest off-property option for families. Longer excursions can reach the Sigatoka River Valley, national park trails and historic sites. The most useful choices are:

OUTRIGGER Fiji Beach Resort is one of the more complete family resorts on the Coral Coast. Its advantage is not a perfect swimming beach. It is the combination of spacious accommodation, strong childcare, two separate pool environments, several dining choices and enough activities to keep different generations occupied.

The best-value choice for many families will be a Resort View or Courtyard room. Upgrade to an Ocean View category when the view and Talai service matter, to a One Bedroom Suite when separate living space matters, or to a bure when the traditional design and terrace are central to the experience. A Beachfront Bure gives the best position, but it does not change the tidal nature of the lagoon.
